Items may be placed on reserve by instructors for the use of their students. Reserve items may be items already in the library collection or items loaned to the library by the instructor. Faculty loaning the library material are responsible for requesting the necessary permissions from the copyright holder for an item to be placed on reserve. The Director of Library Services may deny a faculty member’s reserve request if proof of permission cannot be presented. Consumable resources (items that are meant for one time use only) cannot be placed on reserve, in accordance with copyright law.
Circulation periods vary according to item and faculty needs.
In accordance with Fair Use, reserve items may only be on reserve in the semester that a class is being taught and under the name of the instructor teaching the course. It is the responsibility of the instructor to retrieve items from the library once they are removed from reserves at the end of the semester.
